In our Beginner Class - Level I, students will first learn about the chessboard and the different pieces, including pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, the queen, and the king, along with how each piece moves and captures. They will be introduced to the objective of the game, which is to checkmate the opponent's king. Essential rules such as check, checkmate, castling, en passant, chess notation, and pawn promotion will be covered. The class will also focus on opening principles, teaching students how to start the game effectively by controlling the center, developing pieces, and ensuring king safety through castling. Basic tactics like forks, pins, skewers, and discovered attacks will be introduced to help students recognize and execute simple tactical motifs.

Through practice games and reviews, students will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned and analyze their games for improvement.

But learning chess isn't just about rules and strategies—it's also about having a blast! That's why our Beginner Class incorporates interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and friendly gameplay to keep everyone excited and motivated.

In our Pre-Intermediate Class Level II, is designed for students who already have a basic understanding of chess, focuses on advancing their skills and knowledge. In this class, students will delve deeper into opening strategies, learning more complex and effective ways to start a game. The class will introduce students to advanced tactics and combinations, including forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, and double checks, helping them recognize and execute more sophisticated tactical motifs.

Students will learn about positional play, understanding concepts such as pawn structure, weak and strong squares, piece activity, and the importance of creating and exploiting weaknesses. The class will also cover basic endgame techniques, including more complex checkmates and strategies for winning with different combinations of pieces and pawns.

Studies have shown that playing chess can lead to improved cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking. Students who play chess gain a variety of benefits that extend beyond the game itself."
